What is telescopic gate automation?
A sliding gate whose leaves stack and extend in sections, so it needs less side space than a single-leaf slider.
Gate automation adds a motor, controller and safety devices to a sliding, swing, folding or telescopic gate so it opens and closes at the press of a button, a tap on a phone or a scan of a card. It is the most common upgrade for villas, gated communities and compounds in Hyderabad.
How it works
An operator (motor) moves the gate leaf. A control board decides when to open, stop or close, and reads inputs from remotes, keypads, RFID readers or a mobile app. Photocells and safety edges stop or reverse the gate if something is in the way.
Telescopic gate automation: mechanism and how it is automated
A telescopic gate has several leaves that slide over one another and extend in sections, so a wide opening can be closed with little room beside the gate. This page explains the mechanism and the automation.
Key features of telescopic gate automation
- Needs much less side space than a single-leaf slider
- Suits wide openings
- Soft start and soft stop
- Limit switches and obstruction detection
- Manual release for power cuts
- Works with remote, app, RFID and ANPR
How telescopic gate automation works, step by step
- Mechanism: stacked leaves. The gate is made of two or more leaves on parallel tracks or guides. When the gate opens, the leaves slide behind each other and stack into a short length beside the opening.
- Mechanism: linked travel. The leaves are linked by chains, belts or rack drives so that they move together and in step. Good alignment of rails, rollers and guides decides how smooth the gate runs.
- Automation: rack and pinion drive. A motor with a pinion drives a rack fixed to the gate. The linked leaves extend and retract together. Soft start and soft stop reduce shock on the leaves.
- Automation: safety and control. Photocells and safety edges stop or reverse the gate on obstruction. Limit switches set the open and close points, and a manual release lets the gate be moved by hand in a power cut.
Where telescopic gate automation is used
- Industrial and commercial entrances: Wide vehicle gates where there is little wall space beside the opening.
- Gated communities: Main entrances with heavy daily use.
- Villas and farmhouses: Wide driveways with a short side wall.
Works with
- Remote controls and wall keypads
- Mobile app, smartwatch and voice control where the controller supports them
- RFID, ANPR and intercom access control
- Photocells, safety edges and flashing lamps
- Battery backup for power cuts
Installation and selection tips
- Measure the opening and the stacking length beside it
- Keep tracks level and clean for smooth travel
- Plan for regular alignment checks, as there are more moving parts
- Size the motor for the combined leaf weight
Types of gate automation
Gate Automation come in several types. Use the table to see where each one fits, then open the page for the type you are considering.
| Type | What it is | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|
| Sliding Gate Automation | A motor with a rack and pinion drive that slides a gate sideways along a track or cantilever frame. | Villas and compounds where the gate cannot swing out, and busy community entrances. |
| Swing Gate Automation | Arm or underground operators that open one or two gate leaves on hinges. | Homes and compounds with enough space for the leaves to swing and a traditional look to keep. |
| Trackless Bi-Folding Gate Automation | A folding gate that moves without a floor track, using hinges and an overhead or wall-mounted drive. | Sites with a narrow side space or uneven ground where a floor track is a problem. |
| Telescopic Gate Automation (this page) | A sliding gate whose leaves stack and extend in sections, so it needs less side space than a single-leaf slider. | Wide openings with limited room beside the gate. |
| Bi-Folding Gate Automation | A gate made of hinged panels that fold as the gate opens, driven by a motor at the fold point. | Entrances where a swing gate would block a driveway or a slider has no space. |
| Cantilever Trackless Gate Automation | A sliding gate that hangs from rollers on a rigid cantilever frame and moves clear of the ground, so there is no floor track to clog with dust, stones or water. | Villas, farmhouses, factories and commercial yards with uneven, sloping or dusty ground where a floor track would collect debris, and sites that want a clean driveway. |
Best uses in Hyderabad
Wide openings with limited room beside the gate.
What to check before you choose
- Gate weight, width and condition
- Available space beside or behind the gate
- Power supply and backup needs
- Number of users and remotes
- Safety devices for pedestrians and vehicles
- More moving parts, so alignment and servicing deserve attention.
Technical specifications
Specifications are published only from the manufacturer datasheet. [CLIENT TO PROVIDE datasheet]
The datasheet for this product will list:
- Maximum gate weight
- Maximum gate width
- Opening speed
- Duty cycle
- Power supply
- IP rating
- Certifications
Control options
Remote, mobile app, smartwatch, RFID, keypad and ANPR are available only where the supplied controller supports them.
Installation process and timeline
Installation starts with a site survey of gate weight, width, alignment, ground level and power point. Civil work such as a foundation plate or rack track is prepared, the operator and controller are fitted, safety devices are set, and the owner is trained on remotes and manual release.
Safety features and certifications
Safety devices such as photocells and safety edges are part of a proper installation. CE, TUV and GeM details are shown only with verified certificates.

Frequently asked questions
When should I choose a telescopic gate?
When the opening is wide but the wall beside it is short. A normal sliding gate needs side space about equal to its width, a telescopic gate needs about half or less.
Does it need more maintenance?
It has more moving parts than a single-leaf slider, so alignment and lubrication checks matter. An AMC covers this.
How do I know if my gate can be automated?
The gate must be sound, reasonably light for its size and move freely by hand. A site survey checks weight, alignment, ground level and space, and any repair needed first.
What safety devices should an automatic gate have?
Photocells across the opening, a safety edge on the moving leaf, a warning lamp and a manual release are the basics. Pedestrian and vehicle paths should be considered separately.
How many remotes can one gate controller learn?
It depends on the controller model. Ask for the memory capacity of the controller you are quoted, especially for communities with many users.
How often should an automatic gate be serviced?
Gates used daily benefit from a scheduled check of the motor, rack or arms, limit settings and safety devices. Frequency depends on use and site conditions.
Do you repair gates and doors installed by other companies?
Yes. We service multiple brands. Send a photo or video of the issue on WhatsApp.
