A UHF RFID access control system has four parts: long-range readers, passive vehicle tags, a controller with management software, and the boom barrier or gate that it opens. Together they let authorised cars drive through without stopping, while every entry and exit is logged. They suit apartments, IT parks, offices, campuses, hospitals, factories and parking lots.
How UHF RFID access control work
A reader antenna powers and reads a passive UHF tag fixed to the windscreen or vehicle. The reader sends the tag ID to the controller, whose software checks it against the authorised list, validity period and gate permissions. If the tag is valid, the controller signals the boom barrier or gate to open; if not, the barrier stays down and the attempt is logged.
What to check before you choose
- Required read distance and lane width
- Number of tags, users and gates
- Barrier or gate controller compatibility
