What a fire-rated rolling shutter is meant to do, and what to ask for before you buy one.

A fire-rated shutter closes an opening to slow the spread of fire between spaces for a stated time. The rating applies to a tested construction, not just the shutter name.
Ask for the rating, the test standard and the certificate for the exact model. Check that it suits the opening size and building rules.
